Designed by founder Charlotte Cameron, Berjoan was born and inspired by Charlotte’s grandmother and cherished pieces that have been handed down through her family that are still worn and loved today.
‘Berjoan was inspired by my reflections on the emotional attachments we have to those irreplaceable pieces in our wardrobes. The raincoat that has been with you, your mother and your grandmother through many rainy days. That fabulous yet uncomplicated dress that makes getting dressed in the morning simple yet joyful. As a highly textile-led designer, I believe that the fabrics in which garments are made inspire these strong emotional attachments. I wanted to create garments that honour this notion, celebrating the materials, crafts, places and people behind every piece’
Trained in knitwear and textile design, Charlotte has over ten years’ experience designing and developing premium and luxury womenswear. Combining Charlotte’s love of colour, pattern and tactility, and passion for truly ethical and symbiotic manufacturing, Berjoan is driven first and foremost by the exploration and commitment to transparent and sustainable textiles, inspiring focused collections of daywear.
Berjoan is not about basics and essentials, but equally every piece is inclusive and purposeful, whilst having an aesthetic opinion. Ties, gathers and versatile shapes transcend age and shape, offering longevity and the ability to be shared and handed on.
